Univ.-Prof. Dr. Monika Pietrzak-Franger is Professor of English Literary and Cultural Studies at the University of Vienna. She explores, teaches and writes about British and Anglophone Literatures and Cultures from the 19th century onwards. An expert on Victorian studies and medical humanities, she has been involved in countless projects that focus on cultural conceptions of medicine, health, and illness. Her most recent monograph discusses Syphilis in the Victorian Age and its various multimedial manifestations.
